I thought it might be helpful, if nothing else for some ideas. I like that it talks about "old etiquette" and "new etiquette"!
http://www.realsimple.com/beauty-fashion/clothing/wardrobe-basics/dress-for-any-occassion-00000000030100/index.htmlCarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12111871920304831981noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5567880568706694792.post-266961910412043242011-06-15T19:21:18.340-04:002011-06-15T19:21:18.340-04:00I just cleared my closet of non-breastfeeding-frie...I just cleared my closet of non-breastfeeding-friendly/too small/too outdated clothes and as a new Mom have been sticking to the good old black pants and a dressy/stretchy material (necessary for breastfeeding) shirt and shoes if the event calls for it -- I have quite a bit of jewelry but rarely wear it as I'm a really simple girl, and I don't want a necklace/earring to get caught on the baby now.

So basically since becoming a mother my style has gone down the tubes :) but honestly I fall into the category of not really caring what I look like. Sweatpants were my staple when pregnant and in college, and now legging-style capris or more flowy capris are my go-to bottoms when I'm not in work out-type clothes. It's funny because Bill cares more about what he looks like than I do. He takes longer showers, does his hair, actually matches his clothing hehe - I just leave the house :) So all in all Meg - I am no help! But do agree with you on the black pants :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5567880568706694792.post-83448149519846997032011-06-15T10:27:56.910-04:002011-06-15T10:27:56.910-04:00See, you're one of those "urban hip"...See, you're one of those "urban hip" ladies (Ro-cha-cha!! The big city! ;-D), who can pull off the dressy jeans, that I only wish I could learn from -- so thank you SO much for your input. I'm starting to get into scarves, and my bracelet and necklace collection is...developing. (And you can WEAR tube tops?! Jealous.) Thanks, again, for your fashion idears. ;-)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10213944131651959303noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5567880568706694792.post-44473825037350109382011-06-15T10:20:19.302-04:002011-06-15T10:20:19.302-04:00I'm definitely the "dress-up-jeans" ...I'm definitely the "dress-up-jeans" kind of girl. I'm usually pretty good at it, especially in the fall when I can wear cute boots with nicer jeans (nicer, for me, usually means a darker wash). I'm also a big fan of cardigans so I have a lot of them. Cardigan, simple undershirt, nicer jeans, and some cute shoes is an easy, semi-dressy/semi-casual outfit (for me).

Also, I find that accessories can definitely help jazz-up or cool down an outfit. Scarves are perfect for this. As are belts, fun earrings, and necklaces. (I'm just starting to get the hang of the accessorizing task.)

Lastly, I have my fair share of LBD(s) and pencil skirts. I have yet to find one LBD to do the trick, so I have a couple (tube top-like, shift, and linen-sh).

If all else fails, text whoever you're going with and ask what they're wearing. I agree with you though, I'd rather be a little overdressed than under-dressed.Carahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12111871920304831981noreply@blogger.com
